It´s obviously that the watcher get´s a little frost over his back watching this. I´t is a very detailed work and shaded with top quality. Looking close on the eye iris you can see something like a eye gloss reflect, propably this person is staring at something with a smooth surface, maybe a window or even the monitor.

Althought i like the iris shade techinque i have to affirm that in the right half of it you can clearly see two dots not fitting in. I know it´s a samll detail after all but are not the details what makes the image so special? Also there is a white spot in the iris wich is not shaded it is just white.

I think this was drawn on a unregular wood surface, because of the random lines in the shading, but i also might be wrong.

Before seeing this, I hadn't come across yourself or your work before, but after checking out your profile I definitely intend to; you have a lot of skill, especially with pencil! :D

I can tell that you had a lot of ideas and a clear focus as to how you would draw this, as you have included so much detail, as well as paid a lot of attention to the reflections and contrast shown here. Therefore, I award you 4 for vision.

Considering it's originality, I for one aren't too sure whether this was drawn from real life, a reference image or from the imagination; but I guess the second due to the complexity and technicality of this piece. Although this shows a large amount of skill, it is an other eye drawing and there isn't anything different with the concept that sets it apart from other eye or facial studies found on DA. Therefore, I give 2.5 for originality.

However, no matter how original it is, this piece has been crafted with an excellent amount of technical ability and amount of detail. The iris particularly strikes me, as the range of tones and array of pencil marks really brings it to life. The gentle shading on the whites of the eye give it a sense of curving subtly, which enhances the feel of realism - which, with the light reflection, gives it that 3D look.

The skin looks just as brilliant, with such smooth blending of the pencil, and lighter lines to add blemishes, connote the skin texture well. The thing that I love the most from this drawing is the eye lashes; you have created them very well, changing their direction, length and width, making it very believable. That, and the amount of contrast between the pupil and eyelashes to the skin and reflections, make this very photo-realistic, especially from the thumbnail! Therefore, I give you 4.5 for technique!

Overall, as it is so realistic, it does have a large impact on the audience. However, without an obvious concept (such as the eye crying, which would bring more emotion) it doesn't bring feeling to me, or make me feel so attached to it. Therefore, I have given you three for impact.

But overall, this is an amazing drawing, especially where technical ability is concerned, and is so much better than any attempts at eyes that I have done. To improve your marks on the critique system, I would suggest introducing a concept to the image, which would increase the originality and impact rate. I would also pay a little more attention to the bottom eye lashes; there normally isn't as many.

But well done! This is great and I look forward to being a watcher of yours! :D
